Franck Carbonnel is the head of the department of Gastroenterology at Bicêtre Hospital and professor at the University of Paris-Sud (Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris). He is specialized in Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) care and research (clinical, epidemiology and translational). He has been the principal investigator of several academic trials and studies in the field of IBD. He is involved in the research of pre illness factors of IBD; he investigated tobaccco, sunshine exposure, drugs and diet composition. He contributed to the clinical description and pathophysiology of enterocolitis due to immune-checkpoint inhibitors.
