Participants in this program will:

  • Discuss mental health disorders in IBD
  • Examine pulmonary disease in IBD
  • Explore obesity in IBD and associated manifestations
  • Consider thromboembolic complications in IBD
  • Review current knowledge on biologics and newer agents—big and small molecules
  • Survey current IBD literature

Patricipants in this program will:

  • Explore the relationship between gut inflammation and mental health disorders
  • Consider resiliency and mental health in the IBD patient
  • Explore the concepts of core inflammatory pathways/cytokine hubs in immune-mediated diseases
  • Discuss the division of leukocytes into inflammatory versus anti-inflammatory roles in the gut and consider cell therapy
  • Participate in the choice of one workshop to:
    • Learn the secrets for academic success from Canadian investigators
    • Develop strategies to keep up-to-date on the latest IBD literature
    • Discuss progress towards precision health in IBD
    • Examine treatment options for mental health in IBD
  • Discuss what makes the gut abnormally inflamed
  • Explore novel treatment approaches to the microbiome

The Canadian IBD Nurses (CANIBD) 2022 annual conference will be held in collaboration with Crohn’s and Colitis Canada (CCC). The conference will take place over 2 sessions.

Session I: Friday, November 4, 2022 (6:00 pm to 8:35 pm – includes dinner)

Participants in this session will:

  • Review the CANIBD awards, publications and upcoming initiatives

Session II: Saturday, November 5, 2022 (1:00 pm to 4:30 pm)

Participants in this session will:

  • Discuss immune response and the microbiome
  • Review updates on nutrition in gastroenterology
  • Explore the transition of adolecents and young adults with IBD
