Learning Objectives
The educational objective of the Mentoring in IBD XIX program is to increase awareness of current developments and best practices in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) management, promote collaboration among Canadian gastroenterologists, and optimize treatment of IBD.
Participants in this program will be able to:
- Define the management of the IBD patient with an abnormal liver profile with a focus on primary sclerosing cholangitis
- Review current knowledge on biologics and newer agents/ small molecules and their position in treatment strategies in IBD
- Describe medical peri-operative management and surgical approaches in treating luminal and perianal fistulizing Crohn’s disease
- Discuss optimizing medical management of acute severe ulcerative colitis
- Distinguish sexual health care issues related to IBD and examine sexuality and sexual function in chronic illness
