Learning Objectives
The educational objective of the Mentoring in IBD program is to increase awareness of current developments and best practices in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) management, promote collaboration among Canadian gastroenterologists, and optimize treatment of IBD. Participants in the program will:
- Discuss the efficacy and safety data for vedolizumab and golimumab in ulcerative colitis and position these agents in current and future algorithms of care
- Focus on diagnosis, treatment and management of chronic refractory pouch dysfunction
- Consider the role of the microbiome in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and how a clinician can manipulate it
- Examine the way we do surveillance of cancer in IBD and how to implement change
- Investigate the use of immunosuppressives and biologics before, during and after pregnancy
- Survey current IBD literature
